Gameplay consists of exploring South Park, interacting with characters and solving puzzles, and participating in turn-based fights, where you use various powers and attacks, that are determined by your class. Once again, there are two vying sides, and you pick which one to join and fight for. In The Fractured but Whole, a direct sequel to The Stick of Truth, the children end their imagined war and instead start a superhero franchise in an obvious parody of current popular heroes. You choose which side you want to join, and which of the four classes you want to play as (Fighter, Thief, Mage or Jew) as you fight for possession of the Stick of Truth, a stick with unlimited power. In The Stick of Truth, you play the New Kid in South Park, who befriends the local boys and becomes embroiled in their imagined war between Elves and Men. They combine the series' staple humour, satire and parody with strategy, puzzles and exploration.
